Foodpic

From the weekend.
1) Head down to geyland serai again - twice this week - to get lunch for the family. Say hi to the quail and a basket full of otah! Shld make an effort to bring out my digi cam.

2) It was the mother's bday during the week so I went to delcie's to get her a diabetic cake. They have a range of cakes to choose from - like vegan, diabetic, gluten free, healthier choice etc-  and is located at 951 Upper Serangoon Road, Singapore 534714 Tel: 9789 2309. Prices of the cake is not the usual price you'll have outside from fourleaves, breadtalk etc. Well, as their shop says, 'cakes that truly care for You' so with such care, it definitely comes with a price.

Here's the chocolate fudge cake (73% dark cocoa) which serves 5 people or more @ $50. With an additional $10, you can change the shape of the cake to heartshape <3 How cute is that? (:

Besides that, the mother also received a home-made gift from my bro! Taste really good even though he used very basic ingredients like garlic bread and eggs! Thumbs up!

3) Random, but i tried this at Century Sq's Katelove boutique. They have another outlet at Clemnti Mall or, you can also shop online! Open slit back and front dress! $30. It is alil revealing but you can always use the tape - or whatever you call it - to secure the clothing so as to not reveal parts which are not supposed to. HAHAHAHA.
 tempted.

Astons's Specialities

Hi there.
Just some food pictures over the past week that i've consumed.

1) Aston's Specialities @ The Cathay on wed night.
Dinning space was a lil small and they give seats to whoever gave it up after their meal. So, pple with big     groups, not advisable to head there cause if a couple leaves after their meal, you won't get the table.

Prime Sirloin (if my memory didn't fail me), medium w mushroom sauce at the side.
No beefy taste, wasn't as bad as I imagine it to be - I don't take beef.

Grilled Salmon Fillet.

2) Home.
Rockmelon which was crunchy yet sweet! slurps.
3) Takeout
Mixed veg rice which the bf bought for my lunch! How sweet. Meets his standard of cheap & big portion of ingrdients.

Another takeout of fried fish slice noodles with milk and ginger slice.

4) Kovan Hawker Centre's dessert stall
Refreshing red bean with corn ice and lots of evaporated milk on a hot sunny day.

xoxo.

Buffet Town Review

Last weekend, my family and i decided to give Buffet Town at Raffles Shopping Centre a try since we were celebrating the old woman's bday.

Wanted to make reservations via phone but we couldn't get thru at all - line was engaged all the time - maybe they didn't put their phone down properly? They do take online reservations but it has to be 3 days in advance. There was a total of 5 of us and the bill came up to about $200+. Here's the price list.

So we headed down at about 630pm? And there was a LOOOONNGGG queue. It's a good thing that they separates the queue, reservations and walk in. So after about 15 - 20mins wait, we had a nice corner to ourselves at the tempura corner. There is a wide selection of food, kids corner for children to play around after eating and the place is pretty huge since it could cater to 450 people!

Provided water with lemon for washing because you'll definitely be getting your fingers dirty :D
Following pictures are food I've taken to try, and i swear, there were alot more selections but some were not to my liking - i don't take certain dishes - so i didn't take it.
This is the grilled meat : Sausage, cajun chicken and honey pork chop. They also have wagyu beef, but my family don't take beef due to religious issue so none was taken, but it looks good when i passed by the counter.

That is the sweet potato which tasted weird to me, but my mum and bro love it.

Yes, your eyes are not playing tricks on you. Black Pepper Crab! Though the portion is small, but i took 2 plates at one go! They also have chilli crab and the mini buns - seriously heavenly - the sauce i meant. Crab though may not be the freshest but it's still pretty good and boy, the black pepper crab is a lil spicy! likes!

They also have stations that sells chicken rice, laksa, soups, curry chicken and nonya dishes! Likewise, small portion of laksa and the shredded chicken was given generously!

Sushi selection does seem to be whetting people's appetite because it is constantly being replenished. Sashimi was fresh, according to my bro and it is sliced a lil thicker than the usual.

Found something really interesting, grilled banana! I like it!

Herbal Prawns which were really fresh and juicy!

Pizza selection. Feels like any other pizza to me.

Satay, shitake mushroom, some fish and I don't know what's that meat suppose to be. But i've got to mention, the staty (chicken) was pretty good. The sauce was yummy - okay, I'm salivating now -.-

Mushroom soup which was hmmm, nothing to rave about.

Garlic Bread and Dory fish which my mum said was ok, up to her expectation. Seriously? It's just dory! hahaha.

Oysters! As usual, long queue at the cold food section. Oysters, scallop, crayfish, can't rmb what else. People were just crazy over the oysters. I, decided to give it a try - nope, never tried oysters before - and i didn't like it. There's this taste! I just swallowed it the moment it touches my tongue. ugh! In any case, oysters looks fresh and you can see the shifu opening the oysters while queueing.

Some Veg with mushroom which i diy! hahaha. There were other veg like bean sprouts!
Now, time for desserts!
Jelly.. and cakes! There was cheesecake, brownie etc all in bite size! Cheesecake was really good though!

Such a lovely sight isn't it..

Not to forget waffles w ice cream and crepes too! :D

I know, after desserts i saw the pasta corner and decided to eat again! That's what buffet are right, Eat All You Can. So while I still can, I had a spaghetti in tomato base w prawns and bacon - another diy! While my bro had a penne in tomato base w capers and prawns.

Well, that's pretty much what we had at buffet town. Personally feel that the price is reasonable for such a wide range of variety and they have old school kopi and teh-o! It isn't very noisy and food are constantly replenished. Service was also pretty fast so, go give it a try! You can also check out other reviews at hungrygowhere. Most reviews are pretty good too!

Fries Craze

Have you noticed that there's a fries craze recently?
Heard of "Best Fries Forever", "Ireland's Potato"or "What the Fries (WTF)?!" ?

Well, Best Fries Forever is located at Cineleisure's basement or Raffles shopping centre. You must have come across it because whenever I'm at that area, I see people having a cup of fries with different flavoured sauce, munching away. Looks totally good. Here's a picture of Best Fries Forever's Menu:

Have tried (they allow food tasting, but no double dipping!) the Ole Ole flavour, Nacho Cheese and Friendly Fire. Prefer Ole Ole out of the 3. One day, I'll give it a try (when I'm not full) :D

Ireland's Potato, on the other hand is a fries chain that has venture into Macau, Taiwan, Malaysia, Thailand etc. So far, I've only seen it at Bugis+, used to be known as the Iluma Shopping mall opposite Parco Bugis Junction. Food tasting was also allowed and they had rather unique dips like Yogurt Cream and Honey Mustard! Here's a picture of the leaflet I got from them. Notice they even have seaweed powder under 'Crazy Taste'? There's no need to wait for the MacDonald's promotional item of seaweed shaker fries. Just pop by Ireland's Potato and you'll have it.

Made an order of Honey Mustard and I couldn't stop saying how much I love it. really tasty! Whets the appetite ya'know. And their fork is actually their logo which was pretty cute. The honey mustard dip given was generous and fries was cripsy hot so everything was very good altogether. Would go back and try other flavour, maybe the Plum & Pepper Powder. Sounds interesting..

Anyway, here's a picture of the honey mustard dip with fries.

Next up is JCube's What The Fries?! Same concept of fries in a cup with sauce/dip, whichever term you prefer.

I tried their Spicy Sweet Thai, and then I was like 'Wah! I like!!' Indeed it was spicy sweet. Goes really well with the fries! Also sampled the Nacho Macho Latino and Herbie's Mayonnaise. The hot dips can be sampled upon request which we did try the 'Grab a Crab' and ended up ordering a single combo (or you can choose double combo) for an additional charge of $1.50.

Though I've yet to try Best Fries Forever, I still prefer Ireland's Potato than to What the Fries because of the variety in flavours and it leaves a deep impression on me as the Ireland proverb says,

"There are two things in the world that can't be joked: 1. Marriage 2. Potato"
